Who We Are

Pulling Together exists to unite communities to support veteran and first responder mental health.

We do this by bringing people together through shared experiences that build connection and resilience.

Our focus is simple: build a resilient community, reduce stigma by reinforcing that it is ok not to be ok, and raise funds and awareness for Wounded Warriors Canada.

How We Do It

We deliver year-round impact through four connected pillars:

The Rowing Event

Our flagship event, where the community comes together through shared challenge.

Muster Point

Where connection and resilience continue all year through social, wellness, and conversation-based events.

Community Impact

Where collective effort turns into tangible mental health support.

Team IMPACT

The highest expression of the Pulling Together mindset, resilience demonstrated through action.

Who We Do It For

All funds and efforts support veterans, first responders, and their families through Wounded Warriors Canada.

Wounded Warriors Canada is a national mental health service provider supporting trauma-exposed professionals and their families. They deliver culturally informed education, counselling, and training that strengthen resilience and support recovery from operational and service-related trauma.

Our partnership ensures that the energy, funds, and momentum created by Pulling Together translate directly into evidence-based mental health support for the people who serve our communities.

Turning Effort into Real Outcomes

Pulling Together exists to create tangible impact, in addition to awareness.

Through our Community Impact and Muster Point programs, we convert collective effort into direct mental health support for veterans and first responders.

What we’ve delivered so far:

Supported the delivery of an Operational Stress Intervention (OSI) service dog to the Calgary Police Service.

Provided 50 tickets to the Western Canada Mental Health Conference for members of the veteran and first responder community.

Contributed $10,000 toward a suicide awareness conference in Calgary for veterans and first responders.

Supported Wounded Warriors Canada in delivering programs and services directly to local trauma-exposed professionals.

Our intent for 2026:

  • Deliver two social events through Muster Point
  • Host a minimum of four wellness-focused events
  • Create and share four resilience conversations/webinars
  • Support Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service through Wounded Warriors Canada programs
  • Deliver at least one in-person Wounded Warriors Canada education or training program

The Flagship Experience

For seven hours, teams row with one unifying purpose: supporting veteran and first responder mental health.

The energy, emotion, teamwork, and shared commitment in the room are unmatched, driven by the knowledge that every stroke contributes to something bigger than any one individual.

The Pulling Together Rowing Event is our flagship experience and the heartbeat of the community. It brings together veterans, first responders, families, businesses, and supporters around a shared challenge that builds connection and resilience.

The momentum and funds created in this room fuel everything we deliver throughout the year.

ABOUT US

Pulling Together was founded by Jade Wong and Rory Thompson, grounded in a shared commitment to service, giving back, and supporting those who serve others.

Rory brings lived experience as a veteran and member of the first responder community. Jade’s service has been rooted in supporting Calgary’s community and those who protect it. Together, they share a deep respect for service in all its forms and a belief that resilience is not a trait you have or don’t have, but something that is built over time through connection, purpose, and community.

Pulling Together exists because they have seen first-hand that strong mental health and resilience are strengthened when people feel supported, understood, and part of something bigger than themselves.

We are proud to partner with Wounded Warriors Canada, because they do this work the right way: credible programs, real support, and a deep understanding of the people they serve.

Our Committee

Pulling Together is delivered by a dedicated organizing committee.

They are the people who quietly give their time, energy, and expertise behind the scenes. Their commitment, professionalism, and belief in the mission are what make Pulling Together possible, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they contribute.
